Christian Carnival

OK, I'm terrible. The Carnival has been up since the 29th, over at ChristWeb. Did I put a link up? No. And I'm in it this time, too!

Seriously, it's a great carnival. Head over there and read it, and add a few of these great blogs to your daily read list.

Christian Carnival

The next Christian Carnival is going to be held at ChristWeb. If you want to be a part of it (and who doesn't?) email your entry to ChristianCarnival AT Gmail DOT com. You should include:

  • The name of your blog and a link to your main site. (Adding the name with a hyperlink would be a nice courtesy to the host.)
  • The title of your post and the URL of the post. (Again, adding the title with a hyperlink would be helpful.)
  • If you want a trackback, include a trackback link. (Tracking back is optional. Some hosts may oblige you, others may not have the time or ability.)
  • Include a short (one or two sentence) description of the post. Your description may be edited by the host, but is often used just as it is.

Matt Jones has done us all a great service in setting up a Christian Carnival Archives page. Head over there and take a look, and read some of the posts from days gone by.

My first carnival was #12. I plan on being in this one, and being more active in the future (I was in every one for a long time, then I got lazy). If you want people to read your stuff, you need to be a part of this carnival.

I Have Returned!

...to the Christian Carnival, that is!

With the move, and some of the really bad posts I wrote back at the old place, I haven't been in the Christian Carnival. Then I had time issues because of school, papers, and procrastination, so I couldn't get anything sent in.

I'm back.

The Carnival is up -- go there and read. There's some great stuff there.

Best of Me Symphony

Head over the The Owner's Manual for this week's edition of The Best of Me Symphony!

This week's theme is Monty Python, so you KNOW I had to get in on it. I entered my old post about my dear friend Nicholas Kristof and his total buy-in to the idea of the God gene -- a proposition that has been roundly refuted by both theologians and competent geneticists.

There is a boat-load of great posts over there -- so go over and check it out!!!

{EDIT} OK, so I forgot to actually put a LINK to the BOMS. So shoot me. At least I remembered a trackback!!

You worked hard on those posts -- they deserve to live again.

Christian Carnival is in town ...

At Belief Seeking Understanding.

Part one is right here. And Part two is right here.

And my post is ... absent. Sorry. This has been a rough couple of weeks at school, trying to get things done in case I actually find EMPLOYMENT. Which hasn't happened yet.

Bugs me most because I didn't take a class I REALLY wanted to (History of the Reformation) because it met when I figured I'd be working. I should have just taken the class. {sigh}

Next week.

Carnival Time!!

The Christian Carnival is up at Intolerant Elle. LOTS of great entries this week -- including my Mark 6:1-6 study.
Reflecting on the Carnival this week, it occurrs to me that my own blogging has been a little lax lately -- even after I promised some good stuff on the way. The reason is that I didn't get my paper done NEARLY as early as I should have -- in fact, as soon as I sign off here, I have to finish it! Hopefully I can get a few things ready to go this weekend, so that while I'm writing my next two papers, I'll still have some good stuff up here.

The Best of Me Symphony is up a The Owner's Manual, so head over there and check it out. This week is hosted by The Young Ones -- who I hadn't seen in a VERY long time! Of course, my early education in British comedy was through the PBS station in Washington DC (WETA), so that might explain it.

The Best of Me Symphony is Up

I decided to try this one out -- after all, the Parableman said it was good, so how could it be otherwise!

There's some great stuff there, and I LOVE the Babylon 5 quote that is next to my entry. One day, maybe I'll write something about the spirituality of science fiction ....

This is also a great way to get some of your older stuff out there for people to read -- I'm pretty sure it has a different audience than the Christian Carnival, so a different group will hear what you have to say, too. Your entry has to be two months old, so take a look through the archives!!

If yer interested, email your submission to gcruse(at)netscape.com with the subject being Best of Me Symphony. Give the following information:

Post Title
Post Permalink
Author's Name (or handle)
Weblog Name (if not obvious from the link)
Submitter's Name/Handle (if different from Author)
Description of post and/or why this post is being submitted (That is, what about this post makes you think it is one of the best from the weblog).

This might also be a way for me to make up for having missed a few Christian Carnivals (like I did this week ...).

Carnival Time

Head over to Parableman for the latest installment of the Christian Carnival. Jeremy puts a LOT of effort into this, and everyone who reads this blog should go check it out -- even though I didn't get squat done to enter into it. I thought about using my TWiCH for this week, but that would have been two weeks in a row that I did that, and I don't want to be redundant, and I don't want to repeat myself, either.

The Carnival is Coming!!!

Wow, looking at the headlines here, I've got three Carnival-related headlines almost back to back to back. THAT won't look good on the headlines graphic I got from Feedburner! Have to do something about that.

ANYWAY: The Christian Carnival is going to be held at Parableman on Wednesday of this week. It HAS to be from the past week, and it HAS to be Christian-themed, and you HAVE to send the following information:

Blog name
Blog URL
post name
post URL
trackback URL for your post if you would like a track
backbrief description of post

Send your submission to jrpierce@syr.edu and make sure your subject makes it clear that this is for the Christian Carnival, or it will be deleted as junk mail.

I didn't notice a deadline, but to be safe I'd get it there Tuesday evening, Eastern time. Everyone should do it, because it's a great way to get the word out about your blog. Now I have to head off and try to come up with something good to post.

The Christian Carnival is Up!

Head over to Beyond the Rim and check out the 30th installment of the Christian Carnival. There are a lot of great entries there. My favorites:

  • Reformation, the entry from Minas Tirith. Reminds me that God uses imperfect people to do incredible things.
  • Brandon at Siris has a great article on the Trinity that should provoke some thought.

I think these two are my favorites out of the folks who aren't on my blogroll. Of course, Donald, Matt, Rebecca, Hal, and Jeremy have their usual excellent articles over there, but you should have read those already. You DO check out the blogroll here, don't you? ;-)

And, of course, I have something there, too. My TWiCH about the French Revolution is there. But I KNOW you've read that one already.

Christian Carnival

I almost forgot, and the deadline is looming. My post is going in as soon as I submit this posting.

This week's Carnival is at Beyond the Rim... So, be thinking about submitting an article or getting your blogger friends to submit an article. Email your entry to beyondtherim at meisheid.com and include the words Christian Carnival in the Subject line. It helps my SPAM filter and my message sorter.

Please also send:
The name of your blog:
The URL of your blog:
The name of your nominated blog post:
The URL of your nominated blog post:
A brief description of the nominated blog post:

I also want to suggest that you use the ability of your mail client to request a read receipt. That way you will be sure I got the submission. For all those not requesting a read receipt, I will be emailing a confirmation of receipt. If you don't get a confirmation, either through a read receipt or confirmation reply, I didn't get your submission. It may have been eaten by the random bit bucket.

Submission deadline is Tuesday at 12 midnight EDT (Eastern Daylight Time) or there abouts.

Actually, it's probably been up a little while. I've been so wrapped up in my own blogging, and commenting on the ongoing controversy at this years SBC Convention, that I forgot to check my email and most of my blogroll!

He's done it in two parts, but the poor guy got 20 posts his first time hosting!! Head over to Belief Seeking Understanding and read some of these posts!

Maybe next week, I'll actually have something in it! If you're thinking about doing it, but haven't, I have noticed a big jump in hits when I have something in the Carnival -- and more than a couple new subscribers to my feed! I'm not running Jollyblogger numbers yet, but I'm working on it!

Back of the Envelope has a great article about eternal security and God's transcendance of time. I've had some problems getting there through that link, though, so you may just want to click the link in my blogroll and get there that way.

And I promise I'll have something there next week!!

Haven't finished reading them all yet, but there is some GREAT stuff out there.
